I’ve been living in Italy for two decades now, and on my first trip to Italy from Canada, I assumed that given the land mass of Italy compared to Canada, I’d be able to see a good deal in three weeks. And I did, but nowhere as much as I had imagined. Italy is so rich in history, culture, art, and architecture that a lifetime would not suffice. For those planning to visit this beautiful country, here is a relaxed travel plan that allows for a deeper exploration of fewer destinations, offering a mix of experiences that encapsulate the essence of Italy over four weeks.
I also recommend staying flexible; after all, you might fall in love with Tuscany, as I did, and choose to spend more time exploring this dreamy and enchanting region. Tuscany offers a picturesque landscape of rolling hills adorned with cypress trees, mountains, and ocean. It is a living tapestry of art and history, from the ancient Etruscan tombs hidden beneath its fertile soil to the magnificent Renaissance masterpieces that grace its galleries and churches.
Wander through vineyards, olive groves, and basque in the golden light that has inspired countless artists. Tuscany boasts approximately 400 kilometers of coastline along the Tyrrhenian Sea. This stretch includes a variety of beaches, from sandy shores to rocky coves, offering stunning views and a range of seaside experiences. Tuscany’s blend of natural beauty and cultural wealth captivated my heart and soul.
