Close encounters of a boorish kind

Do you ever see wild animals?

I love road trips. Several years back I was driving through Corsica on a motorcycle, with my partner, when suddenly we were dragged to the ground.

My partner immediately presumed I had done something that made him lose control. Meanwhile, I could hear a hell of a lot of grunting going on and it wasn’t just my partner.

My heart skipped a beat as I spotted a furious and hungry looking wild boar angrily attempting to tear the saddle bags off the motorcycle. We had stopped to get provisions for lunch, some bread, ham and such and that’s what this fella was after. I instinctively tore the food bag out of the saddle bags with an angry boar staring at me and took off running.

As I’m running, I look back and much to my horror I see an entire family of wild boars running after me. They must have been hiding behind the trees and bushes alongside the road. At this point we had attracted a bit of a crowd.

I took refuge in a nearby barbershop till the boars got bored and left. The crowd applauded me on the way back to the motorcycle, where my partner was standing by smoking a cigar and looking smug for no good reason. Needless to say we’re not together anymore.
